Welcome to NALEO Educational Fund’s Redistricting Website
We hope that you will use the tools in this website to learn about redistricting and get involved in your state’s redistricting efforts. The 2011 redistricting process will play a key role in shaping the nation’s political landscape for the next decade. The maps that emerge will have a significant impact on the ability of Latinos to become fully engaged in the American electoral process and to choose accountable leaders for their communities. Latinos are the nation’s second largest and fastest growing population group and electorate. In order for our nation’s democracy to be representative of its diverse populations and responsive to their voices, Latinos must have a meaningful opportunity to participate effectively in the 2011 redistricting process.
Redistricting happens every ten years and the maps drawn will govern our political representation for a decade. Let’s not get left out of this very important process!

Phase 1: Provide redistricting education workshops to Latino civic and community leaders to learn about redistricting fundamentals and how to participate in their state’s redistricting process.
Phase 2: Facilitate and support network of Latino community working groups in California, Nevada, and Central Florida to mobilize around redistricting and prepare testimony for public hearings.
